Central to the rural character, natural splendor and local economy of Pike and Wayne counties in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania is Lake Wallenpaupack—a manmade wonder enjoyed by boaters, campers, eagle watchers, fishermen, swimmers, sunbathers, snow mobilers and water skiers.

Lake Wallenpaupack was created in 1926 when the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company (PPL) dammed the Wallenpaupack Creek to supply water for its hydroelectric facility. Today, legendary Lake Wallenpaupack encompasses about 5,700 acres of water with more than 52 miles of shoreline; its maximum depth is about 60 feet.
